General Information about Update Service
This procedure is a part of the supplement Service Management.
Why Use This Procedure?
In this procedure you can create an optional number of service variants, such as Field service and Workshop service. To a service you link service operations and material. You can also select a price list on each respective row. A service can be loaded in the Register Customer Order procedure and a manufacturing order will then be created based on registered service operations and service material.
You can load a service to the service order via the PopUp feature. The incorporated rows will then be loaded to the service order.
The window consists of a heading row as well as tabs called Order rows and Intended for parts where you register basic data.
Important to Remember
- A service or a service part is a regular M-part. The service can have a standard price. Price lists and customer linked prices work as usual.
- A service operation is both a part and an operation with an entered work center. This should be of the type Purchased and should not be stock updated. The part shall have a standard price and sales price just as regular parts. (The standard price shall be synchronized with the work center's cost factors that are used during calculations. This must be performed manually.)
-
Important considerations if fictitious parts are used as service material! You can use a fictitious part as service material but the fictitious part will not follow the entire service flow to the invoice basis. The fictitious part will be exploded into its incorporated parts on the manufacturing order. In the Service Summary procedure you cannot see which service material that belongs to the fictitious part but all incorporated parts are loaded to the invoice basis. Fictitious parts are not shown in the Service Summary procedure and are not loaded to the invoice basis. This means that you must have sales prices on the fictitious part's incorporated parts. These incorporated parts are also the basis when pricing the invoice. The setting called "Set price on fictitious parts in customer / purchase orders?" does not affect how fictitious parts are managed in a service.
- You can create a service without service operations and service material. However, basic type, service location and pricing are mandatory when creating a service.
- You can also enter service information for an existing part. The part type will then be Manufactured. Please remember that queue times and capacity factors remain in the preparation for the existing part and are used when registering manufacturing orders.
- How to structure and register part numbers, names, and other classification terms for service parts, since you later in the work flow have to be able to exclude them from e.g. the inventory value list.
- Service parts are deleted in the Update Part procedure.
- Specific work centers are used for service.
