General Information about Part Codes

Why Use This Procedure?

In the Part Codes window you create part codes. Part codes is a classification term used for the part register. The part codes are given a name or denomination. This name is used to provide assistance during the registration of parts over the different part codes and their meaning.

Principles for Classifying Parts

When you wish to classify parts in connection with list printouts, the following rule of thumb is applied: You should first use the part number and name, and then use the part code. The part number and name is always entered for each part when it is created for the first time, whereas you may have forgotten to enter a part code for that particular part.

There are also other terms used to classify parts. The term Product group is mainly used to facilitate the coding of sales accounts. A part category is a term that can be used to classify parts if the part code is not enough. You can divide the part category into several positions.
