Why Use This Procedure?
In the Languages procedure, you register different external languages that can later be used in the system. A registered language can be used to print external documents in the customer's or supplier's own language, if your company deals with import or export. When you register a customer or supplier, you should also enter the language code that should apply to that supplier or customer. The language codes used in MONITOR are international and follow the ISO 639-1 standard.
Setting Up New Languages
When you register a new language, you must translate the different headings that appear in the table's left column to the new language in the table's right column. The row number is used to identify each heading, so that it will be printed in the right place on your order document. The different headings that appear in the table are texts that are printed as headings or as information on all the different forms.
The system comes with the languages Swedish SV, English EN, Estonian ET, German DE, Finnish FI, French FR, Polish PL, Chinese ZH (simplified Chinese), Russian RU, Norwegian NO, Lithuanian LI, Latvian LV and Danish DA, and all the respective headings have been pre-translated for you. The system also contains an original language code ORG, for those cases when there are changes made to the headings in Swedish.
The ORG language is only visible if you type ORG in the Language code field. In this language you should never perform any changes since it is updated during each update by MONITOR.
In order to apply an external language, certain translations into the external language must also be made in some of the other procedures. These procedures are:
Copying Languages
When you configure new languages, you can also copy an existing language and use that as a template for the new language code and name. To do this, go to File and Save as... under File in the window menu. The advantage of doing this is that all the existing rows will be copied to the new language, and can then easily be changed in the new language. This will make it easier to create a new language.
