In the Min. quantity column, you can enter the minimum number of selection alternatives (parts) that must be included in a configuration for this selection group. This field is activated only if you for a selection group have selected the type Not mandatory selection (several).
The value entered in the field Max. quantity is checked at each selection to make sure that the max. quantity is not exceeded. No such check is made at the same time of the value entered in the Min. quantity field but this check is made during Confirm in the configuration window. The total of all parts is then checked so that the entered min. quantity is obtained.
Min. and Max. quantity can be used when there is a limited number of positions to use but you can choose different alternatives for each position as well as a different quantity.
Here is one example; there are four card slots on a computer and if nothing else is selected cover plates should be used on these positions. A problem may then occur if you use Min. quantity for the selection group. Since the selection group is of the type Not mandatory selection, the min. quantity will be checked only if a selection has been made for this group. To solve this problem you can create a mandatory selection group that contains all these four cover plates. A rule must then be created that excludes this mandatory selection group with cover plates if a selection is made in the non-mandatory selection group (the one with a min. quantity). The cover plates shall of course also be included in the non-mandatory selection group to make it possible to select the quantity that will fill the min. quantity.
