General Information about Resource Planning
This procedure is a part of the supplement Service Management.
Why Use This Procedure?
The resource planning can be seen as a priority plan for each service technician. When registering a manufacturing order based on a service you also plan who will perform the actual service engagement. You can register the prospective service technician when registering the order or later on. In this procedure, the actual resource planning is made for each service. This procedure also supports the order registration of new service engagements. You can see each respective service technician's loading as well as the status of the service task.
A service technician is always linked to an employee number and his/her calendar is the basis for the planning. In addition to the service tasks, you will also see the employee's planned absence (for example vacation) in the resource planning. This way you can see if the service technician is available for service tasks or not. If you do not use the Workshop Info module please see the Resource Planning without Workshop Info for more information.
As long as no service technician has been selected, the general schedule is used. The general schedule is registered under Service under the Sales tab in Settings procedure. This also applies to systems with the Workshop Info module.
The window consists of the tabs Create, Display list, Calendar view and Preview. Under the Preview tab you can see what a printout of the list would look like.
Under Printout samples, you can see a sample of the list with explanations.
Rules regarding Schedules for Resource Planning
The following applies during order registration:
Only the company calendar/work center calendar, if any, will be considered during the registration. If you want to plan that an order should be processed during the weekend, there must be available capacity. If the order is delegated when the order is registered, the technician's schedule will be considered. The order can then be planned to be processed on a weekend if there is available capacity according to the technician's regular working hours. This is still possible even though the capacity is set to zero in the company calendar/work center calendar.
The following applies during resource planning:
If a schedule or schedule calendar is linked to the technician via the employee number, this will apply. If there is available capacity according to the regular working hours on Saturday and Sunday, these days will be shown in the chart. The basic schedule is only used for "Technician not decided". This schedule will never show any capacity on the weekend. Please see the Resource Planning without Workshop Info for more information about the basic schedule.
What Update Options Exist for this Procedure?
You can change the service's time used, when the service shall be performed and the concerned service technicians. This can be made by moving the task in the calendar view or via the selection called Edit service which is accessed when right-clicking on a service task in the calendar view. You can also change or add service technicians to the task.
