Part code is used to classify parts.
The principle is that different classifications are usually most convenient if you use the part number or name to classify them, as these fields must always be updated for a part. However, if these terms are not sufficient to fill your classification needs, you can use part codes. Part codes are included in most standard lists in the system, both as classification and selection alternatives.
The part code table with codes and names can be updated in the Part Codes procedure under Tables in the Global Settings module. However, you can create new part codes in this procedure. If you enter a part code that is not included in this table, the system will display a control question asking whether you want to create a new part code.
