Name

The name describes the part. The name is a powerful search term in MONITOR. It is often easiest to search for parts using the part name, since it describes the part itself. You can search for parts using the PopUp feature in several different places in the system. The name is also a very convenient search and classification term in lists. That is why part names should be consistently used throughout the system, which makes using MONITOR both easy and effective. We suggest you create general name templates for parts and different types of part assortments or ranges.

The PopUp feature in this field is not used to find and load an existing part, but to load only the name of an existing part that can be used as a template for the new part. This will make registration both faster and more consistent when it comes to using names, and you can eliminate the risk of typing errors.

If you change the part name, a Closedwarning appears.

Recommendations

When registering parts, you should use lower-case letters (small letters) and not only capital letters (CAPITAL LETTERS) in the name field for each part. More text will fit in your printout if you use lower-case letters. See the example below:

GABLE SEMI-FINISHED

Please Note! Never use apostrophes ( ’ ) in the name or other relevant fields. This character is used by the system in internal SQL-phrases and using them could cause these SQL's to stop working.

By using the Info menu (right-clicking) it is easy to link to the Preparation procedure.

Additional name, Name, Optional alternate selection text and Optional alternate selection text are determined by the warehouse's language in the Update Part procedure.
