General Information about Register Storage Rules

What Does This Procedure Do?

In the Register Storage Rules procedure, you create storage rules used when searching for available locations during arrival. (This is created per storage type.) These storage rules are easily linked to each respective part using the Inventory List – Parts procedure.

A purpose of storage rules can be to gather parts from the same part group in one area, or to fill the stock locations in a particular order of priority or according to a certain principle. You can use storage rules in order to place large and heavy pallets at the bottom or to place frequently used parts within easy reach.

Here you will find two samples that illustrate storage rules:

Example 1: The stock is filled per aisle from the nearest Aisle. Every Aisle is filled from the nearest Section. Every Section is filled from floor Level.

Sample 1 of stock storage.

Example 2: The stock is filled per section from the nearest section. The stock storage starts with the Section in the nearest Aisle. Every Section is filled from floor Level.

Sample 2 of stock storage.

It can be good to in first hand select easily accessible locations when creating new storage rules.

If no location is found that fulfills the storage rules during arrival, a warning appears and you must manually search for a location.
