Category Components

In the Category Management the category field is divided into sections where each row stands for a category component.

Start

Here you enter the starting position in the category field where the category component starts. For example 1 states that the category component starts as the first character in the category field.

Length

Here you enter the length of the category part, that is, how many characters it should be. For example if this is the category component with starting position 1 and the length is 2, then the next category component (row) will get the starting position 3. The length also forces the user to enter this number of characters as a value for the category component.

Type

Here you enter which type of selections that will be possible for the category component. The following alternatives are available:

• Optional - the user can enter optional characters for this category component in the category field.
• Optional with selection list - by using this alternative you can create a selection list in the lower part of the window, so that the user can make selections based on the selection list in the category explanation window or enter optional characters for this category component in the category field.
• Mandatory selection list - using this alternative you must to create a selection list in the lower part of the window. The is then forced to select from the selection list in the category explanation window.
