Hyperlinks
The system supports different types of hyperlinks in Instructions, CRM, SRM, and Activities, that can be copied to the Clipboard and then pasted into other programs.
Under Edit on the Window menu you can copy hyperlinks of type "monitor://". Read more about this type below.
In the Update Instruction procedure and in the CRM and SRM tabs in the Update Customer and Update Supplier procedures you can use the function Insert hyperlink. This alternative is found on the Info menu by right-clicking or using the key combination Alt+H.
The supported hyperlink types are:
- http:// - Addresses to websites.
- monitor monitor:// - Addresses to database, procedure and in certain cases also to data in the MONITOR procedure.
This is entered as "monitor://<database number>/<procedure number>/<data>", where <database number> is the companies database number (for example 001), <procedure number> can be viewed using the command Ctrl+Shift+O in the procedure in question, <data> is records (for example a quote number - sub-number).
<database number> number can be eliminated, you then enter "monitor:///<procedure number>/<data>". In that case the latest used (by the user on the computer) company database will open.
For example: If you enter "monitor://002/124/35005" then part 35005 will be loaded in the Update Part - Inventory in database 002. A link to the program will open in the already started database if the first part of the link contains less than three characters. For example monitor://, monitor://0/ or monitor://./. - notes:// - Addresses to documents in Lotus Notes' databases.
- File - File path to a file from the local hard drive, network unit, network resource. For this alternative you can also use the "drag and drop" function.
In the hyperlink there is also HTML and RTF format to facilitate usage with other programs.
Drag and Drop
Via the "drag and drop" function with the cursor from the Explorer you can easily create hyperlinks to files. The files are then opened directly via the program that the file-ending is registered for. The "drag and drop" also supports files on disk that are Internet shortcuts and regular program shortcuts.
Via the "drag and drop" function you can also create hyperlinks to e-mail messages directly from an e-mail program.
Files and e-mail messages to which hyperlinks are created as described above, will be saved in the folder structure \<ftg_nr>\YYYY-MM\ using the path entered in the setting Path to location on the network for external files, under Document Viewing under the System tab in the Settings procedure. If this setting is not used, the files will be saved in the same folder structure but under \Monwin\ExtFiles\ on the database server (<ftg_nr> is a folder created by the company number that is used, for example 001).
The files will be named to date/time (down to micro second) according to the format "YYYYMMDDHHMMSSmmmµµµ", plus file extension, if any.
