Part codes are used to classify parts. You should first use the part number and name when classifying, as these fields must always be updated for a part.
However, if these terms are not sufficient to fill your classification needs, you can use part codes. Part codes are included in most standard lists in the system, both as classification and selection alternatives.
When classifying by part code in lists, you can use "Underline" ( _ ) and the percentage sign ( % ) to search for characters in a certain position in the part code.
The part code table with codes and names is updated in Part Codes in the Global Settings module. If you enter a part code that is not included in the part code table, the system will display a control question asking whether you want to create a new part code. This means that you can create new part codes when updating parts.
