Edit Planning Formulas

There is a supplement to this procedure called Edit Planning Formulas. When this supplement is installed it means that the procedure is "open", allowing a user with the right permissions to edit the initial formulas Standard and Advanced, and for some of these also add alternate formulas.

This means that when the procedure is opened and you can edit the formulas, the result from other procedures based on these planning formulas will be affected.

The purpose of this chapter is mainly to clarify how support cases regarding alternate planning formulas are managed. The chapter also contains some regular recommendations that may be useful when editing and creating planning formulas.

Please remember that the initial formulas Standard and Advanced, that are delivered with the system, can be reset by using the alternative Load initial formula under the Info menu.

ClosedGeneral Recommendations

Formulas can be built using regular SQL-phrases and tested in this procedure. The variables that can be used in formulas can be seen in the Variables window that appear by selecting Show variables in the Info menu.

Please Note! It is not certain that a variable will work as planned just because the formula in which the variable is included has been tested and worked in the Variables window. This must be tested by calculating the formula when for example loading the list in the procedure.

If you change and save an initial formula, the edited formula will be replaced if the initial formula is re-loaded and saved.

For certain formulas you can add own alternate formulas to new rows. This method is better than the one where you change the initial formula.

If you load and save an initial formula to a row with an alternate formula, the initial formula will replace the alternate formula.

The best way to see if you can add new rows or not to formulas, is that a comment field appears to the right of the formula field if that is possible. You can also create more advanced formulas in a text editor and then copy and paste the formulas in the formula fields. It may be very useful to document and describe alternate formulas in a separate document in order to reset them when needed. This is done in for example the Update Instruction procedure in the Global Settings module.

ClosedSupport

Any support cases regarding alternate planning formulas created by users will be charged on a continuous basis by Monitor Support. This also applies to support cases regarding procedures whose results are affected by these alternate formulas.
