Tool Management in Comprehensive Reporting

The Tool Management is a supplement to MONITOR. In this procedure you can use the Tool Management supplement to add, delete or change the linked tool lists for operations in a manufacturing order. The tools can be entered in the order that they are used. Under the Tools... button in the reporting window you will find the ClosedUpdate tool list window. If there are tools linked to the operation, a “pound sign” (#) appears on the button.

The Update Tool List Window

This window coincides with the window found under the T button in the operation rows in the Adding / Replanning procedure. In this window, you can create new tools by first entering a free tool number and then entering a name and a group for the new tool. You cannot change the name or group of an existing tool.

However, you can enter a description, the tool quantity and select an entity, if the tool contains entities. To the far right you will see if an existing tool is withdrawn.

Newly created tools and changed tools in the tool list, are saved once you click on the OK button. The tools that have been linked to a report number (operation) will automatically be reserved when you save the tool list. The tools will be reserved from the operation’s start period until its finish period. You can see reservations by using the Tool Info feature.

During reporting, the tool statistics are updated for special tools and measuring tools with the number of cycles. The number of cycles added to the tool corresponds to the reported quantity of the part on this operation. For special tools, the Details field is also applied to calculate the number of cycles.

Please Note! Any changes made here in the tool list of an operation will only apply to that particular order, and not to the tool list that was originally created for that part in the Preparation procedure. If a quantity has already been reported for the operation, you cannot change the existing tools in the tool list here. The tools will then be greyed out.
