General Information about Quote Backlog Simulation

Why Use This Procedure?

This procedure allows you to simulate manufacturing orders from all the quotes in the quote backlog that have been selected to be included during simulation / requirements planning (this is configured under Miscellaneous in the Register Quote procedure). The program will then also take the probability codes for the quotes into consideration.

The procedure can be used to check what kind of loading you will have on your work centers based on simulated manufacturing orders. You can also check what material requirements will occur, based on these simulated manufacturing orders.

By default under the Create tab, all quotes are selected for manufacturing order simulation in the table. Once the simulation has been started, the system will open the procedures for loading or material requirement calculation, depending on the choices made under the Create tab.

Loading

If you select Loading (default), the Loading Selection procedure will open after the simulation, and the loading for the simulated orders will be calculated and checked there.

That procedure will then contain somewhat different default parameters than if it were to be opened separately from the menu. Only the overloading is shown and only the work centers that have been configured as Bottlenecks are included. Actual orders and quote backlog are both included. The capacity per work center is shown.

Requirement Calculation

If you select Requirement calculation, the Requirement Calculation procedure will start after the simulation, and will create a requirement calculation on all the quotes in the quote backlog that have been selected to be included during simulation / requirement planning. All structure parts will then be exploded. In other words, you cannot determine which quotes that should be included in the requirement calculation by unchecking the quote rows in the Sim column.

The Requirement Calculation procedure will then contain somewhat different default parameters than if it were to be opened separately from the menu. No M-parts are included. The calculation will include parts without reservations, actual orders and reservations, as well as the quote backlog. Read more about Requirement Calculation in the Help Function for that procedure.
