What is Flow Analysis?
The flow analysis is used to analyze existing orders, that is to make sure that the entire flow - from purchase via manufacturing to delivery - is in phase.
If the flow is not in phase, the flow analysis will show the consequences that this will lead to. The final consequence may be delayed deliveries. You will find information about new delivery times and where the problem occurs. You will also see what possibilities you have to catch up, for example to reduce the number of queue days.
You can analyze the flow based on either a purchase order, manufacturing order, customer order or an operation on a manufacturing order (priority plan).
Why Use This Procedure?
In this procedure you can ask the question - "Will the manufacturing order be finished in time?".
Besides analyzing the material, an analyze will also be made of the operations. You will find a New finish for each operation in their respective priority plan. The New finish indicates when the operation can be finished. The operation with the largest difference between the planned finish and new finish is the most critical operation.
The most critical material or operation determines the new delivery period for the entire order. This is calculated for all orders that are analyzed. You will find information about the most critical work centers and materials.
Then you can make a what-if analysis of the new delivery period to see if it will generate any problems regarding its needs, that in the end could be a customer order. This is the same what-if analysis as the one made when arrival reporting purchase orders.
You can open the procedure via the procedure menu and manually enter the order number under the Create tab. You can also use the M-order selection under the Create tab to load order numbers. You can also link to the procedure from other procedures in the system, see below.
Linking to the Flow Analysis from Other Procedures
You make flow analysis of manufacturing orders to see if the order will be finished in time or not. If the order will be delayed, you can also see the consequences that might occur for example a delayed customer order. You can link to the procedure by using the Info menu (when right-clicking) for example from the Order Window in the Part Info procedure.
