General Information about Recording Terminal
What is the Recording Terminal?
This procedure is the heart of the Workshop Info module. It ties together the information taken from the basic data procedures such as salary types and other codes, schedule settings, employee settings, as well as information from the Detail planning.
The Recording Terminal replaces the usual "time clock" used to report attendance and work. By using the Recording Terminal, the clock-in and clock-out information from the work place is used to create a salary basis that can be transferred to a payroll program.
The Recording Terminal can also be used by operators in their daily work to report their work orders with greater precision than what is possible in the Manufacturing module and the Operation Reporting procedure. This way, items like the basis for post-calculation will be more precise than before, and the information flow between operators and planners will be smoother and simpler.
By using the Recording Terminal, more responsibility can be delegated to the operators, when it comes to work planning.
The Recording Terminal moves the ERP system closer to the manufacturing, and the operators can now enter absence reasons directly when they clock-out, select type of overtime work, see drawings and work instructions directly on their screens, enter rejection and interruption codes, report measuring data, send messages, etc.
What Can You Do in this Procedure?
During attendance recording, the employees can do the following:
- Attendance Recording
- Clock-in and clock-out, which means they record their "coming and going". Register attendance, absence and overtime.
- Change schedule to an alternate schedule that will apply for one work day.
- Enter planned absence.
During work recording, the employees can do the following:
- Select and start the operation via its report number, priority plan or from an order structure.
- Report setup times.
- Perform partial reporting and finish operations by entering the approved and rejected quantities.
- Report interruptions and their causes.
- Report measuring data.
- Manage traceability by withdrawing and adding parts to specific stock locations.
- Add material by right-clicking. (This is configured per employee in the Update Employee procedure.)
The employees can handle different information:
- Show the current schedule, schedule calendar and historical recording.
- Send and receive messages.

Reasonability Check
By performing reasonability checks, the operators will get a warning if, for example, a negative balance was to occur for a part during reporting. If the part's balance is negative, you can also block operations for reporting. You can also get a warning if the reported quantity exceeds the previous operation's reported quantity. It is also possible to get a warning during start work if the previous operations has not been started. Finally, it is possible to warn during AutoReport material exception.
The reasonability checks are configured under Orders under the Manufacturing tab, and under Start Work and Finish Work under the Workshop Info tab in the Settings procedure.
Nonconformity Management for Own Operations
The nonconformity management can be simplified when reporting own operations. The setting Register nonconformity from recording terminal must then be activated under Finish work under the Workshop Info tab in the Settings procedure. When you save a reporting of an operation (which contains a reject quantity), the Register Nonconformity procedure will open automatically and a new nonconformity is created containing all information from the reporting.

Save Layout for Employees
In the Start work and Finish work modes, the ADMIN user can save a default layout that will apply to all employees. An employee that already has got a customized layout will not be affected by the new default layout. Individual employees can change the proportions between the window sections in the Start work and Finish work modes.
