The Info Menu Accessed by Right-Clicking

Once you have loaded a list in the Requirement Calculation procedure, you can change many of the parameters found under the Create tab. By right-clicking in the list, you open the Info menu.

At the top of the Info menu, you can see the alternatives that are always available in the Info menu, such as the linked “Info” procedures (Part Info, Manufacturing Order Info, Customer Info, Supplier Info etc.) and Properties.

And below them, there are alternatives that are linked to the requirement calculation. The parameters found under the Create tab also appear here under Show, Level, Order types and Format (period).

If you have not selected any of the alternatives found under the Create tab, they will be greyed out here. This means that they require a full calculation of the list, and must therefore also be configured under the Create tab before they can be selected or deselected here.

On the other hand, the alternatives under Recalculate and Replan order... as well as Description... only appear in the Info menu. These are described here below.

The Info Menu in the Requirement Calculation procedure.

Recalculate Available Balance

This alternative allows you to recalculate the available balance. This can be done after you have filtered the list, for example.

Recalculate Without Applying Orders

The system will now recalculate the available balance, without taking orders into consideration. This option is used for monitoring the delivery of important purchase orders in order to find which deliveries that would create an actual shortage if they are not delivered within the specified delivery period. The list will then show the order items with strikethrough over the quantity.

Recalculate With Stock Balance = 0

This alternative creates a gross requirement calculation. In other words, the system recalculates the available balance without applying the existing stock balance. This is very useful if you cannot trust your stock balances, but still want to plan using some sort of net requirement.

Create Order Suggestion in Past Time?

This alternatives allow you to decide whether to place the order suggestion in past time for existing reservations that create part shortages in past time. By unchecking this alternative, all the purchase order and manufacturing order suggestions will automatically be moved ahead in past time, with the order/start period as of today's date and the delivery/finish period according to the lead time/throughput time. If this alternative is used by default or not is configured with the setting Create order suggestions in past time?, under Requirements Planning under the Inventory tab in the Settings procedure.

If order suggestions in past time are rescheduled ahead according to this option, this can be seen on the suggested order number in the lists in procedures Purchase Order Suggestion and Manufacturing Order Suggestion. The order number will then appear in red font with an exclamation mark symbol "!" before the order number. See the image below.

Rescheduled order suggestion for shortages in past time.

One rule of thumb is to avoid having reservations left that will cause part shortages in past time. These orders should be replanned so that you do not have to reschedule the order suggestions.

Replan Order...

This alternative will open the registration procedure used for the order row that has been selected in the list. For example, if you cursor is on a manufacturing order row in the list, the Register Manufacturing Order procedure will open with that order ready to be replanned. If the cursor is on a customer order row, the Register Customer Order procedure will open with that order ready to be modified.

Description...

This alternative shows extended information about the selected row in a separate window. The extended or additional information can be seen for customer orders, purchase orders, manufacturing orders and material requirements, as well as main part suggestions in the list.
