General Information about Replacement Value Adjustment

You will find a general description of how to manage lists in MONITOR in the chapter Managing Lists in the System under General in the MONITOR Basics guide.

What Does This Procedure Do?

This procedure is used to change the replacement value of the fixed assets. The replacement value, or the acquisition value, is used as a basis when making the calculated depreciation of a fixed asset. This procedure is therefore useful when you decide that the replacement value is to be used as a basis for the calculated depreciation. Selection of calculation basis is entered under the Accounting tab in the Settings procedure in the Global Settings module. The calculated interest is also entered under this tab. Calculated depreciation is made in the Calculated Depreciation procedure.

The replacement value refers to the market value of a corresponding new fixed asset at the time of the calculation. The use of replacement value is practical since the calculated depreciation will then be expressed in the same monetary value as other expenses.

Please note that calculated depreciation is performed based on the fixed asset's replacement value at each year-end closing, that is, based on current prices. Therefore, you need to adjust the values continuously during the year. Thus you can very easily index-adjust the replacement value for all fixed assets by any given percentage. The adjustment can also be made by an optional amount.

When you display the list, the assets selected in the Create tab as well as its current and new replacement values are shown. The new replacement value can also be adjusted manually directly in the list. When saving the list, the assets' replacement values are updated to the new values.

The list can be classified and selected by fixed asset (individual objects) and fixed asset group.

What Update Options Exist for this Procedure?

You can make updates when you use certain Display List functions. In this procedure you can update the column New replacement value directly in the list.
