Costs

At the top of the section Costs, you will find three fixed cost types called Material, Subcontract and Work. Below these you will find other cost types. How the cost values are loaded is described below.

A special feature for the cost type Work is that the costs are separately reported from both manufacturing orders, indirect work and directly registered costs.

How Are Costs Calculated?

The actual costs for the three fixed cost types, Material, Subcontracting and Work, are loaded depending on how the cost of the project type is configured in Register basic data - project.

The material cost can either be loaded from the accounting, manufacturing order or purchase order. When material costs are loaded from the manufacturing order the cost can either be based on planned/reported price or current price. This is configured under Default values in the Register Basic Data - Project procedure.

The subcontract cost and labor cost can either be loaded from the accounting or from manufacturing order. In most cases, these costs are loaded from the manufacturing order. If so, in practice a post-calculation for the project is made based on the reported manufacturing costs.

The labor cost (work) can also be loaded from reporting made of indirect work in the Workshop Info module, if these are linked to the project during reporting. The cost that then will be saved for the project is the working hours multiplied by the hour cost for the indirect work. Costs can also be loaded from the Addition in the Workshop Info (daily allowances, travel time, etc.). If the work center is reported at the same time, the hour cost will be loaded from the work center.

For the other cost types the actual costs are loaded from the accounting. In these cases, the account used must be configured with the correct cost type in the Type of project cost/income field in the Chart of Accounts. This can be used for accommodation invoices, for example.

For all cost types, costs can be loaded from directly registered costs that have been reported in the Register Project Costs Directly procedure.
