General Information about Users

Why Use This Procedure?

In the procedure called Users, you register all the users that will be using the MONITOR system. In the beginning, you will only have the ADMIN user and the Administrator group in the system. This group is a system group that is linked to the ADMIN user, and cannot be modified.

Before you can register users, you must first register group user rights. You register your group user rights in the User Rights procedure in the Global Settings module. This is where you link users to a group in order to assign them user rights in the system. A user can be a member of several user rights groups. The different group's user rights are then added together. It makes it easier to divide the procedures in MONITOR into function groups so that you can later give the user rights to the users that need them.

It is also possible for a user to enter the type of user, integrated login, password, warehouse, language, account profile, default printers, telephone number, e-mail address, reminder settings and purchase limit.

Default Printer

The standard drivers for local or network based printers must be installed in Windows. In order for the printer to then be available under Default printer for respective user, you must first register it in the Printers procedure where a Windows printer driver is linked to a printer number as a "MONITOR printer".

Once you have registered your MONITOR printers, you must here link them to the different types of printouts. Printer links are created to local printers on each user’s computer. If you are using a mutual network printer, you can create a link to that printer from one single computer for all users, but only if the printers are installed in Windows using the same driver and identical names!

Licenses

The users in the system are individual registered users, and not simultaneous users. This means that each registered user is assigned one license, and you cannot register more users than your company has purchased licenses for. Below the user list you can see information about how many active users have been registered, and the maximum number of users you have licenses for, for each user type.

Only one user can be logged on to the system at a time on a single computer. The workshop terminals are often used by several users, so you should register one mutual user for them, such as "Workshop".

You can also select to integrate the login for a user in MONITOR with the user's account in Windows. This means that the authentication/identification of the user is made against the selected user account in Windows on the computer or in the network and not against the user account in MONITOR.
