In the A (Addition) column you can access a window by using the A button. In this window you can make part additions to a selection alternative (part).
At the top of the window, you will see for which part the additions are created.
In the Part number field, you select the part addition. You will see the Name and Type for the part to the right. In the Quantity field you enter the quantity that applies to the part addition.
In the Main part field, you can link a part addition to an incorporated M-part in the material list in the basic preparation. The part addition will then affect the incorporated M-part's material list. If this field is empty, the part addition will affect the material list at the top level in the basic preparation.
In the FOP field, you enter to which operation in the basic preparation the part addition shall belong.
By using the buttons to the right, you can insert, add or delete rows.
Please note! If you use the main part for additions, the part with the basic preparation should be locked to the configuration group in the Part number (locked to) field. Then you can only select an M-part that is included in the material list in the basic preparation in the Main part field.
How Additions Affect Calculations
The purpose of using addition is mainly to be able to use different Main parts on rows with selection alternatives to selection group. If you do not have to use different main parts, it is better to use a fictitious part instead of an addition.
If you use additions it will affect the calculation. The calculation of a completely configured part will not be equal to the total of the sub-calculations for that configuration. CM and CR in the configuration window will not present the same information as the total calculation.
To compensate for that difference, those parts that are included in the addition shall also be added to the BOM list of the selected part in the Preparation, using the term for example Alternate preparation code and a code - for example "C" for calculation. If you calculate using this term, the total of the sub-calculations will be equal to the total calculation for a certain configuration. The disadvantage with this procedure is that you need to register the addition rows in two places.
If you are not interested in seeing the sub-calculation total (standard price total) in the configuration window, there is no problem using Additions when it comes to calculations. If you for example have activated the setting Calculation on quote/customer order row?, under Product configuration under the System tab in the Settings procedure, the entire configuration will be calculated automatically on each order row. However, the CM and CR in the configuration window will not provide the same information as the total calculation.
