General Information about Inventory Analysis

You will find a general description of how to manage lists in MONITOR in the chapter Managing Lists in the System under General in the MONITOR Basics guide.

What Does This Procedure Do?

This is a procedure which complements the Calculate Stock Levels procedure and is mainly intended to be used within the Stock Refill System (SRS). Here you can load and print lists, as well as analyze different key ratios in your stock/inventory.

Under the Create tab you select the range of parts you want to analyze. Depending on which list type you have selected, you can analyze the range of parts considering the safety stock, average stock or turnover rate. Read more about the different calculations under Printout samples.

You can see the value of your safety stock (SS), which supports the calculation of the safety stock since you here can see how much the stock costs.

You can also see the calculated average stock value compared to the current stock value. This is a complement to the SS and EOQ (Economic Order Quantity) calculation. When calculating SS, you can calculate an average stock by using the following formula SS + EOQ / 2. The value of this stock is calculated according to (SS + EOQ / 2) x Price. This can be compared to a current stock value at the time.

It is also possible to see the calculated and actual turnover ratio. The SRS includes the possibility to estimate annual volume and you can calculate average stock according to the above. You can then get a calculated turnover ratio, by using the formula Annual volume / Average stock. This can be compared to an actual turnover ratio. Actual turnover ratio is calculated from the actual consumption and current average stock for the last year or another period, based on the inventory log.

You can also see the stock balance in days for calculated average stock and current stock at the time. Stock balance in days for a part is equal to Stock balance / Daily pace. To be able to see the stock in number of work days is an alternative to see the stock in quantity. This information is also available under planning info for a part.

The availability can be viewed per ABC code. It shows how much percent of the parts in this part group that have got balance > 0. This can be an interesting value for range of parts with delivery from stock. For example, you did not get the order since you had nothing to deliver.

You can, on the range of parts, analyze the effects of reduced lead times, safety stock and EOQ.

The lists are viewed per part, total per part or ABC code.

Stock Location System

If you have installed the supplement Stock Location System, you can use the setting Calculate location requirement in order to:

The location requirement is calculated only for parts included in the stock location system.

What Update Options Exist for this Procedure?

In the Turnover rate list classified by part number, you can save the calculated and actual turnover ratio per part (determined via settings under the Create tab).

Can Any Charts Be Displayed?

All lists can be viewed in chart form.

Field Descriptions

Use Run in the Turnover rate list, with the Calculate actual setting selected, to calculate the range of parts' actual turnover rate.
