Continuous Physical Inventory
If a part shall be included in the continuous physical inventory, you must select a physical inventory month in the fields Inventory month 1 and Inventory month 2. You can enter 1 or 2 physical inventory months for a part per year.
Certain parts may need to be inventoried twice a year. When using continuous physical inventory this should be made approximately every sixth month.
You can also enter physical inventory periods for several parts at a time in the Update Physical Inventory Period procedure. There you can enter the distribution in percent for each month for a range of parts and then create a physical inventory schedule for these parts throughout the year. You can also manually enter physical inventory moths for these parts.
It is possible to request a physical inventory, in addition to the planned physical inventory. You register requests in the Physical Inventory Request procedure.
Continuous physical inventory means that you schedule the continuous work with physical inventory. This is instead of performing a total physical inventory. You create continuous physical inventory bases in the Continuous Physical Inventory - List procedure. You report the continuous physical inventory in the Continuous Physical Inventory - List Reporting procedure.
