Under Document Viewing in the Global Settings module, you will find the menu item Update Instruction, that is used to create your own procedure descriptions or specific instructions for the different procedures used in MONITOR.
If you have installed the supplement Document Viewing you will find three additional procedures in the Global Settings module: Update Document Path, Document Viewer and Document Viewer Exception. These procedures allow you to create file paths to different folders that contain documents and drawings. They are partly used to view the documents and partly there for you to be able to create exceptions for certain file types used in the Document Viewer. The file paths that are created will later on be used in order to link documents from the Comment box to different parts, customers, suppliers or orders.
Below you will find a brief description of all the procedures that can be found under the Document Viewing menu in the Global Settings module of a complete MONITOR system. Please note that these procedures belong to the supplement Document Viewing that is purchased separately.
This is a simple form of word processor that is used to create your own procedure descriptions or specific instructions for each procedure that is used in MONITOR. These instructions are saved in the company database and can later be loaded into each procedure using the Window menu, by going to Instructions under Help or by using the i button under the Window functions. You can also save and load instructions on your hard drive as RTF files.
Supplement. This procedure is used to create file paths to local folders on your computer or on a file server. The documents that these folders contain can then be registered so that they are available to be linked to different records. Some document types that may be useful to link are, for example, drawings, control instructions, agreements etc. The documents are linked to a record using the Files button that can be found in the Comment window in each respective registration procedure, if you have installed the Document Viewing supplement.
Supplement. This is a built-in document viewer that allows you to view different documents. By using the Document Viewing, you can also view documents in the folders of your choice. The program supports a number of different file formats used in many commonly used programs such as CAD, word processing, spreadsheets, image processing etc.
Supplement. This procedure is used to create exceptions for certain files that should be viewed with another viewer; otherwise the Document Viewer program will be the default viewer. Exceptions may be general or user-specific.
