General Information about Document Viewer

Why Use This Procedure?

Document Viewer is a procedure that is included in the supplement called MONITOR Document Viewer. In the procedure there is an integrated viewing filter called RxViewX that is developed by Rasterex http://www.rasterex.com.

Read more about the functions included in the version of RxViewX that comes with MONITOR.

Read more about the supported file formats.

The Document Viewer can be opened from other procedures in order to link/unlink files and show files already linked to records in the MONITOR database, but it can also be used as a separate procedure to display files.

When linking files the system will remember which folder you used when you last linked a file. This folder will then be suggested by default the next time you link a file.

The Document viewer window can be maximized and reset to normal size by double-clicking on the title bar of the window.

Different Ways of Opening the Document Viewer

The functions to link/unlink files in the Document Viewer window are only available when you open the window from other procedures. The three different ways in which you can open Document Viewer are:

RxViewX Properties for Document Viewer

Under Settings | Properties for Document Viewer... in the Window menu, you can configure settings for the filter setup in the RxViewX. This is a number of settings concerning XREF-paths, Font-paths etc. for the Document Viewer. Please note that this alternative applies only when you are logged on as the ADMIN user.

Management of "Hybrid" PDF Document

In certain cases the PDF document that is printed comes out blank. It is then so-called "hybrid" PDF documents which contains background images and text that have been added on top of the images using for example Adobe Acrobat. It is then possible to enter a setting in the monitor.ini file in the folder Monwin\ini in order to manage these hybrid PDF documents. Find the section [MONVIEW] in monitor.ini and enter the setting AllowHybridBmpPrint = 0 there if this problem occurs.

Some PDF documents that contain large images and that are printed in large formats such as A3, might cause the printer memory to run out during printout. You should configure the above mentioned setting as AllowHybridBmpPrint = 1 if this problem occurs (this is also the standard mode, if the setting is not included in monitor.ini).

If the section [MONVIEW] is not included in monitor.ini it is possible to add it manually. That section is otherwise created if any property setting has been made using the menu selection mentioned above "Settings | Properties for Document Viewer...".

The following file types can be linked but not printed: ZIP, .ZIPX, .EXE, .JAR, .7Z, .GZ, .LZ, .TAR, .TGZ, .ARJ, .LHA, .LZH, .RAR, .ISO, .CAB
