General Information about Discount Categories

Which Tables - and Why?

Discount Categories can be used in connection with order registration. The discount can be calculated according to the value or quantity of the order row in question.

Here is an example of value limits:

The value limits 1, 2 and 3 are for example set to 1000:-, 2000:- and 5000:-. If a customer makes a purchase for SEK 1000:- a 2% discount will be given. If the purchase is for SEK 2000:- the discount is 5%. This means that a purchase up to the first limit will not give any discount, while a purchase between SEK 1000:- and 1999:- will give a 2% discount according to limit 1. A purchase between SEK 2000:- and 4999:- will generate a 5% discount, a purchase for SEK 5000:- will generate a 7% discount, etc. This applies to part rows. You can create a total of 10 limits.

The link to these discount limits is created by linking the customer to a certain discount category in the customer register, and by linking the discount category to a product group, part code or part category in the part register. You create product groups in the Product Groups procedure. You create part codes in the Part Codes procedure, and part categories can be created in this procedure or the Update Part procedure.

Depending on how you have configured the setting Part classification term in Discount Categories, under Orders / Quotes under the Sales tab in the Settings procedure, you can choose to link the discount category to either a product group, part code or part category.

When updating a customer, you can give the customer a general discount rate. If you apply both a general discount rate to a customer as well as a discount category, it is the discount category which creates the discount rate during order registration.

The window consists of two tabs with a table for each tab:

Adding and Deleting

You cannot insert a discount category row in the middle of a table, only at the end. If a row is deleted, you cannot re-use that same location in the table. You cannot delete a discount category that has been selected for a customer.
