Alternate Preparation

Your MONITOR system allows you to use Alternate preparations. In order to use alternate preparations you have to make a selection in the setting Use alternate preparations? under the Preparations heading under the Manufacturing tab in the Settings procedure. This must be done before you open the Preparation window. The available options for the setting are:

• Alternate preparation available but not visible - columns will then open for terms to the check box Show terms at the bottom of the window.
• Alternate preparation visible from the start - the term columns in the window will be open from start.

The type of terms that should be used is selected during the preparation in the column T in the operation and/or BOM list. The terms are then entered in the columns From and To.

Terms

An alternate preparation means that you can configure certain terms and conditions for operation and material rows during preparation. By terms you can determine to:

• add this row

• replace previous row
• delete this row

A term can apply to a particular customer or order as well as a certain period of time etc.

Filter Terms

You can choose Show filter, at the bottom right corner in the preparation window, to show filter settings for alternate preparations. A filter is shown for each type of term where you can select which term that should be visible. Please note that you can only select a term that is already entered on a row in the operation or BOM list. You can also exclude a term using a separate checkbox.

Operation and material rows with no term entered are always shown regardless of the filter (these rows belongs to the basic preparation). Rows with terms that are selected in the filter are also shown, while other rows are hidden. Rows with excluded terms in the filter are also shown.

The checkbox Filter is selected to activate the Filter option. This is only a view mode, which means that you cannot add or delete rows when the Filter option is activated.

By using a filter for alternate preparations the preparation window will be more clearly arranged, especially if the operation or BOM list is long with many different terms. The filter is useful to show one alternate preparation at a time for a part or product.

As an alternative to the alternate preparation with terms on operation and material rows in the Preparation, you have the supplement Product Configurator that is more suitable to handle complex variants and models of a product.
