General Information about Variables

Why Use This Procedure?

This procedure is used to create and define the variables that are to be selectable in the Product Configurator. Variables can be useful when manufacturing custom-made products, such as windows and mirrors, where the area of the glass is been given a variable quantity based on the thickness, width and height of the frame. The variables can be numerical and of the type text, which makes it possible to e.g. enter any color or optional print.

In order to use variables, you have to activate the setting Use variables under the Product Configurator under the System tab in the Settings procedure. The variables created in this procedure can be selected in the Update Configuration Group procedure, but also new variables can be created in that procedure for a certain configuration group.

In the Variables window you create the different variables. Examples of variables that can be created: length, width, height and units of these. As for numerical variables, you can enter a default value and a multiple for them. You can translate a variable description to another language.
