Selection Groups

ClosedSelection groups define which selection alternatives that shall be selectable in a configuration. For each selection group you can select a type such as Mandatory selection, Not mandatory selection or Not mandatory selection (several). These types describe how the selection alternatives (parts) linked to each selection group shall be managed.

Selection groups in the Update Configuration Group procedure.

If variables are applied and you have selected Use variables on the configuration group, you will see Variables at the top of the structure map. There are no settings for the variables under the Selection groups section but the settings are entered in a specific table in the lower portion of the window.

In order to use variables, you have to activate the setting Use variables under the Product Configurator under the System tab in the Settings procedure.

Apart from the variables, you can link different parts to the selection groups under the Selection alternatives for selection group section.

A selection group can also have been configured with the alternative Optional. This means that no selection alternatives are linked to the selection group here but the parts can be selected optionally when, for example, configuring an order. However, for an Optional alternative you can select a default part and enter limitations of the parts that shall be available when making optional selections. You can also configure the same settings as the settings otherwise configured for the selection alternatives.

Please Note! You cannot create a rule that includes an entire selection group.
